85 years ago, Lalloo Harry, a cobbler by trade with a gift for spiritual writing, needed a way to distribute his religious works more easily. His son, Mohan, took on the task. He bought a hand held press and started printing as a hobby. Harry’s Printers grew from this humble beginning, eventually becoming a robust business and moving from St. Georges Road to premises on Kimberley Road. Vrij Harry, the current MD, took over the company in 1973 and has grown the business into the largest printer in the Eastern Cape. Harry’s is still a family owned business with branches in Pretoria, King William’s Town, Port Elizabeth and a staff contingent of 170.
